Which component is for dial-up vs DSL internet service?

Under Networking there is a TCP/IP component. Is this for computers that dialed onto the internet instead of using an external modem and having DSL service through your phone line/jack? Does DHCP refer to DSL service - so some errors are received because the computer attempts to connect to the internet via dial-up instead of directly after log-in and pword are verified?
