Sims 2 reflective mirrors help?

I downloaded these floor tiles that are supposed to be reflective, but I can't figure out how to use them? I placed them over the floor, but it just left a big black square? I don't really even know what they do either. haha(: But I think they make the floor shiny and reflect the walls? help?
