My 9 month old daughter has a tummy bug?

My daughter started being sick last night so I took her straight up to the doctors this morning. The doctor checked her breathing, throat, temp and said that she has a stomach bug. He's given her some dioralyte to keep her fluids up. She is just wanting to sleep constantly is this normal? Also the dr told me not to give her milk feeds or food as will make her sick. Will she be ok not to eat for today? She normaly has a good appetite but is not wanting anything! Any tips? Shall I give her any fruit puree? Surely it's not good if she goes a day without milk or food?
