I like this poem, but it is hard to figure out what it is about, exactly. I think you need to start with the metaphor of "night." If "the time was neither wrong nor right," "night" could refer to a general feeling of depression or alienation. This is supported by the statement that the cry heard from far away is "not to call me back or say good-bye." The "one luminary clock against the sky" at "an unearthly height" could be the moon.
