Windows Movie Maker on youtube?

I just made a vid using Windows Movie Maker (wmm) on my old Windows XP, and I am trying to upload it onto youtube. It keeps saying that I need a different vid format, but I am unable to change that format I save the video in, and I can find a converter that works with wmm. What can I do?
