What would you think of someone if you found out that they were on methadone?

When my sister was a teen she was in a horrific accident and enduring some serious back injuruies. Her doctor perscribed her oxy contin and she had been on them for years, she recently decided that enough was enough and enrolled in a methodone clinic. She was pulled over the other day for speeding and ended up in jail because the police officers found her medication. She said that they treated her like pure s and called her a heroin addict in front of her children. If you found out htat someone you know was on methadone what would you think? Do you think the police officer was justified?
