I'm considering having jaw surgery and would like as much information as I can really?

I'm 17 and have had an open bite for years, it's nothing too severe, but it does affect how I look and how I eat. The only corrective option for me, is to go through surgery. Having looked over the internet I've found a multitude of mixed responses, I'd like to know as much as possible really from people that have undergone this surgery. Such as pain levels, how severe the swelling and bruising is, the outcome, the recovery length, the fluid diet etc, pretty much as much as possible so that I can make a decision on whether or not to have it done. It does make me conscious and i'd very much like it fixed, i'm just not sure whether it's worth it. Any responses would be greatly appreciated :).
